Citizens Gas to Permanently Close Drive-Thru Facility Effective May 24
New Convenient Drive-Thru Depository Now Open

INDIANAPOLIS – Due to declining usage and concerns about air pollution from idling vehicles, Citizens Gas has decided to permanently close its drive-thru payment facility at its headquarters effective May 24.

“Usage of our drive-thru payment facility at our headquarters has declined by more than 60 percent over the past four years as the utility has expanded its payment options, including adding more than 65 third-party payment locations throughout Marion County,” commented Greg Sawyers, Director of Customer Services at the utility. “Even with the decline in usage, the utility is concerned about idling vehicles at our drive-thru contributing to the city’s air quality issues. We encourage customers to utilize one of our other payment options and we regret any inconvenience closing our drive-thru may cause,” said Sawyers.

New Drive-Thru Depository:
As an alternative for check or money order payments, Citizens recently added a new Drive-Thru Depository located on the west side of the headquarters at 2020 N. Meridian St. The new depository is designed for quick and easy access from Illinois Street. Gas bill payments made in the Depository will be posted by the next business day.

Other Payment Options:

• Citizens EasyPay - Customers can make a one-time payment from their checking or savings account by using the free EasyPay service.
• Citizens eBill - Rather than receiving a bill in the mail, our partner CheckFree sends customers an email each month when their gas bill is ready to be paid. This is a free service.
• Automatic Bank Deduction - The customer’s total monthly gas bill or budget payment is deducted from their checking or savings account on the due date of their bill.
• Credit Card - Customers can make a one-time payment with their Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or Debit/ATM card. There is an additional fee of $3.50 for this service.
• Customer Service Center - Customers who are paying cash or who need a receipt can utilize the payment center in our Customer Service Lobby, which is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
