Citizens Gas & IPL Launch Energy Education Program for Local Schools

INDIANAPOLIS In keeping with National Energy Awareness Month, Citizens Gas and Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) are launching THINK! ENERGY Indiana, an energy efficiency education program for students in local schools.

THINK! ENERGY Indiana assists teachers and their students to “think!” about energy, “talk” about energy, and “take action” now about our energy for the future.

National Energy Foundation (NEF) is conducting THINK! ENERGY Indiana on behalf of Citizens Gas and IPL. NEF is providing an interactive, hands-on, classroom presentation and distributing a take home THINK! ENERGY Indiana Take Action Kit to a select group of 6 th grade classrooms. This unique, experiential program teaches the importance of energy, natural resources and environmental issues, and gives each participating student's family the technologies to start making a difference.

“We are very pleased to participate in the THINK ENERGY Indiana project. This program is another extension of our ongoing efforts to help our customers conserve energy to not only save money, but to improve the environment,” said Carey Lykins, President & CEO of Citizens Gas.

“IPL believes that it is important for children to learn at an early age to appreciate the natural resources required to produce the energy used in their everyday lives,” said Greg Fennig, IPL Vice President of Public Affairs. “By teaching kids how to conserve energy, families and the environment will benefit.”

Citizens Gas also invites school children to learn about energy conservation online at CitizensEnergySavers.com and www.citizensgas.com/forkids.
