Gas Bills Projected for Westfield

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Gas advised today that Westfield customers could expect to pay an average of about $8 more for natural gas service over the September through November billing period compared to the same period a year ago.

Citizens Gas projects that Westfield customers could expect to spend an average of about $26 for 18 therms of natural gas in September, $49 for 39 therms in October and $106 for 89 therms in November. During the same period a year ago, the average gas bills would have been about $25 for September, $47 for October and $101 for November.

The latest projections are part of the utility's quarterly Gas Cost Adjustment (GCA) filing with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC). Citizens Gas makes the filings to account for changes in the price of gas it purchases for its customers.

Customers can minimize the monthly financial impact of cold weather by signing up for Citizens' Budget Payment Plan. Under the Budget Plan, a customer's estimated cost for a year of gas service is spread out in equal monthly payments throughout the year. Information about Budget Plan eligibility is available at 924-3311.

The utility continually urges customers to conserve energy by taking simple steps to weatherize their homes. Conservation and weatherization advice is now available through the Citizens Home Energy Advisor, a free online energy audit tool available at www.citizensgas.com.

Customers also are urged to contact the utility if they are getting behind on their gas bills. Citizens Gas directs customers to a variety of assistance sources and works with customers to set up flexible payment arrangements to catch up on past due bills.
