Citizens Gas Warns of Bill Payment Scam

INDIANAPOLIS -- Citizens Gas would like to alert customers to a bill payment scam. At least seven Citizens Gas customers living across Marion County have reported that an African American man using the nickname "Blue" has offered to pay their gas bills for a fee representing a fraction of the bill.

After paying the fee, the customers were shown a fraudulent bank card receipt for the gas bill, which actually was not paid. Customers should be wary of anyone offering to pay their utility bills for a fee. Citizens Gas has taken steps to stop these transactions. Customers are asked to report such bill payment offers to the Indianapolis Police Department at 327-3811.
