Student Poster Contest
With the winter weather just around the corner, conserving energy is more important than ever. Energy conservation not only saves the environment, it saves money. Now, learning this valuable lesson can be fun!
Citizens is challenging Marion County students (kindergarten to grade 8) to a creative competition. The rules are simple; students should create a unique poster explaining ways to conserve energy in their community and at home. Entries must be submitted by January 20, 2012 and will be judged on how effectively students convey their message. Three finalists will be selected in each category, grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. One grand prize winner in each category will be chosen from the group of finalists.
How To Enter:
- Teachers can request the Citizens Energy Savers project pack by clicking the "Register Online" button below or by calling 800-616-8326 ext. 509. The project pack includes a complete contest brochure, classroom supply of posters with entry forms on the back and a business reply envelope for submitting completed posters.
- Teachers then pass out the materials, explain the objectives and give students their deadlines. The entire class does not have to participate; however, the more students participating, the better the odds are for the teacher to win a prize.
- Please ensure that all students complete the official entry form on the backside of the poster.
- Submit all entries together in the business reply envelope provided in your contest packet.
For ideas to inspire poster designs, students can play the Home Energy Challenge or review Tips for the Home.
